Dr. Johnson, DVM
Dr. Johnson is originally from Chicago and moved to Minnesota in 2017. She obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois before starting her professional career. She became part of the River Hills team in 2023.
Dr. Johnson's decision to pursue veterinary medicine stemmed from her passion for animals and science, as well as her fascination with understanding the intricate details behind things. She also enjoys the challenge of problem-solving to bridge the communication gap between humans and animals. Growing up, she was drawn to animals and spent many years practicing dressage. This background naturally led her to a career in veterinary medicine, combining her love for animals and science.
Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is the ability to care for animals and the people who love them. She finds great satisfaction in witnessing the recovery and well-being of beloved pets. Over the past seven years, she has developed a strong interest in surgery, cytology, ultrasound, and holistic medicine. Recently, she obtained certification in veterinary acupuncture and aims to further her knowledge of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
During her first year of veterinary school, Dr. Johnson met her husband, who is a practicing swine veterinarian. They have a one-year-old daughter who brings them immense joy. The family also includes a beloved Bernese Mountain dog named Ella, who Dr. Johnson describes as her "heart dog," and an adopted cat named Harrison, who joined the family during a shelter rotation.
When not caring for her patients, Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, reading, and visiting local wineries and breweries. Family and friendships hold great importance to her, and they regularly travel to Chicago.
